Teach na mBó (pron. Tec na bo, Irish for Cow House)
Rooted in the wild beauty of Ireland’s Atlantic coast, Teach na mBó is where clay and canvas meet.
Founded by Finnish-Irish artist Kirsi Salo, the studio takes its name from the old stone farmhouse where it lives—on a 250-year-old dairy farm in North Kerry, just a stone’s throw from the Atlantic Ocean.
Ceramics shaped by the land. Paintings that hold memory.
Fáilte isteach.
You’re very welcome.
Step inside—like crossing the threshold of an old Irish cottage, where the fire is lit, the air is rich with story, and there’s a deep sense of belonging.
So come in, take a deep breath and let the work take you somewhere you feel like home. Somewhere the air tastes like salt and freedom.
Rooted in place. Made by hand.

Kirsi Salo is a Finnish-Irish visual artist working across ceramics and painting.
Her practice moves fluidly between the expressive and the contemplative—balancing tactile surfaces with emotional resonance.
Her figurative work is designed to evoke deep feeling and rekindle the joy of childhood memories. Inspired by moments in life that make the heart sing, Kirsi creates art that invites a sense of youth, wonder, and wildness—even for those who feel they’ve forgotten it.
Salo’s abstract paintings are characterized by earthy colors, layered textures, and expressive forms. She draws inspiration from the rugged beauty of the wild Atlantic coast, merging this with her Scandinavian heritage and a passion for graphic design and patterns. Her work often features raw marks and a dynamic interplay between elements, exploring themes of continuity, contrast, and otherness.
Alongside her paintings, Kirsi creates ceramics shaped by the textures of ocean and earth. Her clay work carries the imprint of place—weathered, quiet forms that reflect the rawness of the coast and the memory held in the land.
Each piece is an invitation to pause, to feel, and to remember.
